I don’t get it… it looks hollow.Although, now that I’m not concentrating on it logically(i.e. I stopped caring whether or not it was hollow) it seems to move slightly but then become hollow again…I’ve been told this means I think critically and logically of reality, rather than letting my lieing, cheating, rational mind tell me what I think reality should be.
Illusions occur when the brain interprets incoming sensory information on the basis of its context and a persons previous experience, so called top-down processing. Sometimes this process can mean that peoples perception of an object is quite different to reality a phenomenon often exploited by magicians. All 16 schizophrenics saw the hollow mask for what it is where as the “normal” people even though aware of the illusion were still fooled 99% of the time.
The only others with the capacity to mimic the same results by seeing through the hollow mask were those that were drunk or high. The results of the brain imaging analysis suggested that in the healthy volunteers, connectivity between two parts of the brain, the parietal cortex and the lateral occipital cortex, increased when the hollow faces were presented. In the patients with sz, this connectivity change did not occur. I don’t see how a evidence of a physical break in the brain is anecdotal.

No this means yuo’re either drunk, high or schizophrenic and there is a break in a section of your brain. Google “hollow mask schizophrenia”.

@prokofeiv- ah, good to know people still actually believe in that drivel known as “Anecdotal Evidence”.
